The Artifact of Command is one of the most game-changing modifiers available in Risk of Rain 2. By removing random item drops, it allows players to handcraft their ideal character builds during every single run.
Locating the Compound Generator in Sky Meadow
To unlock the Artifact of Command, players must first reach stage five, known as Sky Meadow. Once on the map, drop down to the lower platform hidden beneath the main terrain structure to find the Compound Generator.
This special machine features a nine-slot grid where players must enter the specific code for the artifact. Looking beneath the floating landmass carefully will reveal the walkway leading directly to the terminal.
Inputting the Command Code and Entering the Portal
The code for the Artifact of Command consists of two rows of squares followed by a single row of triangles. Enter this pattern into the nine buttons on the generator and activate the nearby laptop computer.
Activating the terminal opens a red portal that leads straight to Bulwark's Ambry. Stepping through this portal initiates the special artifact trial required to claim your reward permanently.
Conquering Bulwark's Ambry and Claiming the Artifact
Inside Bulwark's Ambry, players must defeat spawning enemies to collect Artifact Keys. Inserting these keys into the central reliquary damages the structure until it shatters completely.
Once the trial concludes, pick up the unlocked artifact and exit through the newly opened portal. The modifier will now be permanently unlocked on your profile for future runs.
How the Artifact of Command Works in Gameplay
When activated at the start of a run, the Artifact of Command converts all standard item pickups into colored Command Essences. Interacting with an essence opens a menu displaying all items you have unlocked within that rarity tier.
This mechanic gives survivors total control over their item synergy and build direction. It removes unpredictable luck, allowing for tailored playstyles and experimental combinations across every stage.
